The paper deals with the question what is the contemporary state of personnel departments in companies and if they fulfil newroles of human resource management. New roles of personnel departments are based on Ulrich´s theory, which change view on personnel departments’ functions. Modern personnel departments should focus less on personnel manager activities and more on making results, guaranty of work quality. First, in the paper is characterized human resources management in traditional personnel activities. Then is examined how much personnel departments in companies fulfil modern roles of human resources management.
