Limiting factors of innovations in the small and medium-sized enterprises in the Czech republic

In this article, the authors are focused on determining factors which substantially influence innovation potential of SMEs in the Czech Republic. The article is principally based on the primary research proceeded in 173 small and medium-sized enterprises from the Czech Republic. Background of this primary research came out from the secondary research on studies of various authors on the topic to innovation barriers. Based on this secondary research, the authors defined factors which possibly influence innovation potential of the SMEs. At application of the Chi-square Test, there are four factors proved as barriers to innovations in the SMEs in the Czech Republic. These are research and development, government support of innovation potential, financial resources and participation of business entities in professional bodies and chambers in the sense of knowledge sharing. This way, results of the paper correspond with the National Innovation Strategy of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic.
